Roofing for Akron homes,
from just down the road.

Akron homes

An older housing stock
than most.

About a third of Akron's homes were built before 1940, and more than eight in ten date to 1979 or earlier, according to Census estimates. Neighborhoods like Goodyear Heights and Firestone Park grew up around the rubber companies, and West Hill has many older homes.

Homes that old have usually been re-roofed more than once. Stripping the roof shows what is really underneath, and the contract already names a price per 10-foot board and per 4x8 sheet for anything that has to be replaced.

Two-story home with siding and a dark shingle roof

On older houses the work can go past the shingles: new roofs, gutters including built-in box gutters, siding, and repairs when that is enough.

Storms in Akron

Wind and hail,
2024 and 2025.

On August 6, 2024, the National Weather Service logged trees and wires down on the north side of Akron and in Ellet. On April 2, 2025, it logged one-inch hail just south of Akron. And on June 18, 2025, large limbs came down in Goodyear Heights.

If a storm leaves your Akron roof damaged, we look over every slope and the gutters, put the roof damage in writing for your insurer, and work with your insurance company and adjuster. See storm damage and insurance claims.

Common questions

Akron homeowners ask us.

Do you have an office in Akron?

No. Our only shop is in Uniontown, at 9727 Cleveland Ave NW, about 25 minutes from downtown Akron.

My Akron house is over 80 years old. Is that a problem?

No. Older homes are common in Akron. The tear-off shows the real condition of the deck, and the price for any bad wood is written on your contract before work starts.

Do you work on box gutters?

Yes. Box gutters, the older style built into the roofline, are part of the work we do.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Akron?

Akron's residential building permits go through the Summit County Department of Building Standards. Ask us about it at the estimate.
