Box gutters & seamless gutters
Massillon's older homes were built with box gutters set into the roofline, and almost nobody still does them right. We do. Plus custom-run seamless aluminum gutters and downspouts on newer homes.
Crest Roofing has worked Massillon homes since 1991, from a shop about fourteen miles up the road in Uniontown. We know what a century home needs and what a new build off the edge of town needs, and we do both: roofing, siding, and seamless gutters, with free estimates and a 5-year labor warranty.
Roughly a third of the homes in Massillon were built before 1939. That is one of the oldest housing stocks anywhere in the region, and it changes the whole job. A century home is not a simple rectangle with a 6-in-12 pitch. It has steep gables, original chimneys that need real flashing, box gutters built into the cornice, and attic spaces that were never designed to breathe the way a modern one does.
Most roofers would rather not touch that. They quote the easy tear-off on the newer streets and steer clear of the old work. We are the opposite. The tricky old details are exactly what we are good at, and we have been doing them here since 1991.
If your house predates the war, you want a crew that has stood on a hundred roofs like it. That is us.
One local crew handles the whole job, quoted up front and cleaned up the same day.

Full tear-offs, new shingle and metal roofs, and honest repairs when a repair is all the roof needs. TAMKO, GAF, CertainTeed, IKO, Owens Corning, ELK.
Wind and hail move through Stark County every summer. We document the damage, work with your insurance company, and put the roof back right.
Aluminum, vinyl, and composite siding, plus the attic ventilation work that keeps old and new roofs alike from cooking themselves out early.
On an old Massillon house the water almost never comes in where you see the stain. It comes in at a chimney with tired flashing, at a box gutter that has quietly rotted its wood liner, at a valley on a steep slate-era pitch that a hurried crew shortcut. By the time it shows on your ceiling it has already been traveling for a while.
That is why we slow down on these homes. We find the real entry point, we flash the chimneys and valleys the way they were meant to be flashed, and we rebuild box gutters instead of smearing tar over them and calling it a day. Downtown Massillon's historic core earned its spot on the National Register in 2018 for a reason. The homes around it are worth doing right.
We also give you a straight answer. If the roof has ten good years left and the leak is a single bad flashing, we will tell you that and fix the flashing. If it is genuinely worn out, we will show you why on your own photos before we quote a tear-off. Either way the estimate is free and itemized, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Massillon gets its share of hard weather. In June 2025 a line of storms pushed 70 mph gusts through the area with Massillon named in the warning, and another 60 mph line named Massillon again in late July. Weather like that brings the storm chasers: out-of-town crews that flood a place after a hailstorm, sign whoever they can, do fast work, and are gone before the shingles curl.
We are the ones who were already here in 1991 and will still be here when you need the warranty honored. If a storm did damage, we photograph and document everything, help you file the claim correctly, and do the repair or replacement with our own crew. No subcontracted chase team, no out-of-state phone number. When we tear an old roof off, the debris gets hauled away the same day and the yard gets rolled for stray nails before we leave, so your property is not a hazard for weeks while a distant crew slowly circles back.
Not sure whether that last storm actually hurt your roof? The inspection and the estimate are free.
From the century homes near the Tuscarawas River and Lincoln Way to the postwar streets and the newer builds toward the township edges, if it is Massillon, it is our backyard.
We also cover the neighboring communities: Canton, Jackson Township, and Barberton.
That is a lot of what we do here. Massillon has one of the oldest housing stocks in the region, and old homes need old-home skills: proper flashing around original chimneys, real box gutter work, and ventilation for attics that were never built to breathe. We have been doing this on Massillon roofs since 1991, and it is honestly the work we are best at.
A box gutter is a wooden trough built right into the edge of the roof, common on older Massillon houses instead of a hung metal gutter. When they fail, water gets into the cornice and the wall, and most modern roofers do not know how to rebuild them. We do, and it is a real specialty of ours. If your house has them, keep them in good hands.
Call us first. We will document the damage properly, photos and all, so your claim starts with real evidence. We have handled storm and insurance work in Stark County for decades, and we would rather you deal with a local crew than the out-of-town canvassers who show up after every hailstorm.
Our shop is at 9727 Cleveland Ave NW in Uniontown, about fourteen miles from Massillon. For an active leak, call (330) 577-6658 and tell us what is happening. For everything else, we will schedule a free estimate around your week.
Five years on our labor, on top of the manufacturer's warranty on the shingles themselves. And since we have been family-owned since 1991, that warranty comes from a company that will still be up the road when you need it honored, not a crew that left the county after the last storm.
Tell us what is going on up there, old house or new. We will come out, take a look, and give you an itemized estimate with no pressure and no games.
