Roof replacement questions.
How do I know if I need a new roof or just a repair?
We come out and look at the whole roof. In many cases a roof can be repaired without the cost of a full replacement. If you only need a fix, see our roof repair page.
Which shingle brands do you install?
TAMKO, GAF, CertainTeed, IKO, and Owens Corning.
What warranty comes with a new roof?
The shingles carry the manufacturer's warranty, and Crest backs the installation with its own labor warranty. The length is written on your contract.
What happens if the wood under my roof is rotten?
We find out at tear-off, when the deck is exposed. The price per 10-foot board and per 4x8 sheet is written on your contract before work starts, so the rate for bad wood is never a surprise.
Roof repair questions.
Do you do small repairs, or only whole roofs?
Both. Missing or loose shingles, leaks, and vent problems are repair jobs we do. In many cases a repair is the right call instead of a new roof.
My ceiling has a water stain. Is the leak right above it?
Often it is not. Water can run along the roof deck before it drips through, so we look at the roof itself before we quote the fix.
Can you match my existing shingles?
We work with TAMKO, GAF, CertainTeed, IKO, and Owens Corning shingles, which gives us a good chance of a close match. Older shingles fade, so an exact match is not always possible.
What if the damage came from a storm?
Wind and hail damage may be covered by your homeowner's insurance. We document the damage for the claim and work with your insurance company and adjuster. More on our storm damage page.

Will you work with my insurance company?
Yes. We work with insurance companies and adjusters, document the damage, and help coordinate the claim.
My roof looks fine after the hail. Should I still have it checked?
Yes. Hail can bruise or crack shingles without any visible damage from the ground, and the leak may not show up until months later. We check the entire roof and the gutters.
Does storm damage always mean a new roof?
No. In many cases we can restore the roof without the expense of a full replacement.
What if water is coming in right now?

Siding questions.
What kinds of siding do you install?
Vinyl, aluminum, composite, cedar, cement board, stucco, and cultured stone.
Do you do soffit and fascia too?
Yes. We do soffit and fascia, and gutters as well.
What is included in the estimate?
The estimate is free and details every cost: the siding, house wrap, trim, wraps, and anything else the job needs.
Seamless gutters questions.
What does seamless mean?
Seamless gutters are formed in one continuous length to fit the house, so there are no joints along the run where leaks usually start.
Do you work on box gutters?
Yes. Box gutters, the older style built into the roofline, are part of the work we do.
Do you install gutter guards?
Yes. Ask about gutter guard systems when we come out for the estimate.
Can you match the color of my trim?
Gutters come in a variety of colors, so you can choose one that goes with the trim.
Permits by town questions.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Akron?
Akron's residential building permits go through the Summit County Department of Building Standards. Ask us about it at the estimate.
Who handles building permits in Alliance?
Alliance has its own Building Department, at 504 E Main Street, and commercial permits go through the Stark County Building Department. Ask us at the estimate whether your roof job needs one.
Who issues building permits in Cuyahoga Falls?
The city contracts with the County of Summit Department of Building Standards, which handles building permits for construction in the city. Ask us at the estimate whether your roof job needs one.
What permits does Springfield Township require?
The township says new construction or alterations to existing structures need a township zoning permit before a building permit from the Summit County Building Department. Ask us at the estimate whether your roof job needs either.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Stow?
Yes. The City of Stow Building Department lists roofing as work that needs a permit, and its residential guide says roofing permits are issued over the counter, with no plans required. Ask us about it at the estimate.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Tallmadge?
Summit County's Department of Building Standards issues many building permits for Tallmadge. Ask us at the estimate whether your roof job needs one.
